Jim Ross is a retired professional American wrestling commentor, referee, and occasional wrestler which has an estimated net worth of $4 million.

During his younger years, he excelled in playing baseball for the Westville High School. In college, he spend some time doing commenting on college radio. Then, Ross worked as a referee for the NWA Mid-South from 1974 to 1977.

He became a color commentator for the National Wrestling Alliance. He left NWA in 1991 and spent one season for the Atlanta Falcons radio broadcasts in 1992. Ross had extensive work for WCW's Turner Broadcasting and later joined into WWF in 1993.

He debuted at WrestleMania IX in 1993 and became the voice behind WWF's pay-per-view events. Ross became the host of several WWF shows such as Smackdown!, Action Zone, Monday Night RAW, Shotgun Saturday Night and Superstars.

In 1998, Ross took a break from his duties as commentator when his illness, Bell's Palsy getting worse.  On September 11, 2013, he announced his retirement from WWE. Aside from being a commentor, he also participated in several wrestling matches.
